Great Bend senior Jeff Mietler was selected to be on the All Kansas State Bowling team.  The Panther captain ended the season with an average of 218.  At the conclusion of the regular season, Jeff was named the Most Valuable Player in the WAC and was also named to the All WAC First Team.  Mietler anchored the Great Bend boys to a regional runner-up finish and a third place finish at the state tournament.

Jeff wraps up his GBHS career as the most decorated member of the boy’s team in the history of the Great Bend bowling program.  As a freshman he was on the state runner-up team. As a sophomore Jeff was a member of the state championship team, and as a senior he was on the third place team. Other members selected to the All State First Team: John Baeten –Topeka Seaman, John Bredehoeff – Lansing, Patrick George – Wichita Heights, Kyle Miller- Salina South, Adam Wood- Topeka West.  Mietler is the second boy to earn this honor for the Panther bowling team as he joins the ranks with former teammate Dakota Conaway who was selected in 2012 and 2013.

Sophomore Allie Brodrick has been named to the All Kansas State Bowling Second Team. Brodrick helped guide the Lady Panthers to a sixth place finish at the state tournament and a runner up at regionals.  Brodrick finished in 12th place at the state tournament and also earned a spot on the All WAC First Team.

“I am glad to see Jeff end his Panther career with this honor,” said coach Mike Perry. “Jeff always came to practice everyday with a smile on his face, worked hard to be a role model and a team leader and worked even harder to make himself and his teammates better. It was an honor and pleasure to coach Jeff and watch him grow through his four years in our varsity program.”

“Even though Allie is just a sophomore, her attitude and effort are much more like that of a senior,” said Perry.  “She is always working on her game and her strong work ethic has rubbed off on her teammates. I am expecting great things from both her and her teammates next season.”
