Great Bend Braves rally for doubleheader split

The Great Bend 17-and-under Braves rallied from a 6-1 deficit for a split with a 16-8 victory over Pratt’s AA Legion baseball team Wednesday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

PRATT 13, BRAVES 5 – Pratt scored 12 runs in the first three innings for a 12-1 lead. A.J. Arensdorf and Justin Lamatsch each drove in three runs.

Hot-hitting Braves’ hitter Jesus Bujanda delivered three hits.

Townshend Kurth scored Calan Haberman on a first-inning groundout. Colin Hall’s triple scored Kurth and Hall scored on a third-inning wild pitch.

Kurth scored on a passed ball and Brayden Powell’s sacrifice fly scored Hall in a two-run fifth inning.

BRAVES 16, PRATT 8 – Great Bend outscored Pratt 15-2 after trailing 6-1 after three innings.

Kurth, Jesus Bujanda, Powell and Joey Soupiset each drove in two runs.

Kurth scored on a first-inning error. Hall and Jesus Bujanda walked and Eduardo Bujanda was hit by a pitch to start a four-run fourth inning.Powell’s single scored Hall and Jesus Bujanda. Soupiset’s triple scored Powell. Jacob Hanrahan’s triple scored Soupiset for a 6-5 score.

Kurth scored on a double steal for a 6-6 tie. Jesus Bujanda tripled home Hall. Eduardo Bujanda’s sacrifice fly scored Jesus Bujanda for an 8-6 lead.

Pratt’s Travis Theis and Lamatsch singled home runs off pitcher Townshend Kurth for an 8-8 tie in the sixth inning. But Lamatsch was thrown out at home and Drew Roadhouse struck out to end the threat.

Kurth’s two-run double scored Soupiset and Hanrahan to ignite an 8-run sixth inning. Hall’s single scored Kurth. Jesus Bujanda doubled home Hall and scored on a wild pitch for a 13-8 lead. Cal Kaiser’s single scored Eduardo Bujanda. Soupiset’s double scored Riley Smith and Kaiser scored on a game-ending error.
