Great Bend Braves to play tournament

The Great Bend Legion baseball Braves will sponsor a five-team round-robin tournament starting Friday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
The Braves (3-8) have lost eight of nine games after dropping 21-13 and 9-8 games June 7 to Hays-Thomas More Prep.
TMP 21, BRAVES 13 — The Braves gave away a 13-11 lead with 11 baserunners reaching base on walks and hit batters in a 10-run TMP sixth inning.
Trevor DeLong drove home three runs and Layton Holden delivered two RBIs.
Miguel Martinez scored a first-inning run. Jayce Kohls scored on a passed ball and DeLong singled home Caden Bieker and William Linenberger in the fourth inning.
Holden’s double scored Jacob Kennedy to start a seven-run fifth inning. Holden scored on a passed ball. Bieker’s single scored Kohls. Bieker and Martinez scored on bases-loaded walks and Linenberger scored on a passed ball. Holden’s single scored DeLong for a 10-10 tie. DeLong’s single scored Jacob Hinton and Bieker scored on an error for a 13-11 lead after five and a half innings.
TMP 9, BRAVES 8 — The Braves played giveaway with a game-ending error that gave Hays the tying and winning runs in the fifth inning.
Christian Zahnter scored on a second-inning groundout. Kennedy’s double scored Brody Feist and Kyler Feist to start a six-run third inning. Martinez scored on a groundout. Kennedy and Holden scored on passed balls. Linenberger’s single scored Kohls for a short-lived 7-2 lead.
Kyler Feist scored in the sixth inning to slice TMP’s lead to 9-8. But Holden was retired on a liner for the final out.
