Great Bend High School assistant coaches Mike Schridde and Justin Schwartz, both Rule 10, were selected as the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association Class 5A Assistant Coaches of the Year.
The Panthers had nine wrestlers qualify for the 5A state tournament this season.
Hoisington’s assistant coach Anthony Leiker was the 3-1A Assistant Coach of the Year.
The Cardinals sent seven wrestlers to the state tournament.
Both teams boasted a state champion in the 126-pound weight class — Chris Burley of Great Bend and Brandon Ball of Hoisington.
