Great Bend track and field dominates at Alex Francis Classic

HAYS- Great Bend boys track and field recorded a meet-best 234 team points to win the gold at Saturday’s Alex Francis Classic. The Panther girls claimed a second place finish with 153 points behind Hays who posted 193 points for the day.  Seven teams were represented in boys and girls competition.

The Panther boys had top performances in all three relays. In the 4x800 meter, Mason YellowWolf, Isaiah Davis, Quinton Elliot and Eric Vasquez placed first with a time of 8:35.77. Antonio Carrasco, Cal Marshall, Ty Yager and Adrian Falk finished first in 4x100 meter timing in at 45.27 while Carrasco, Davis, Yager and YellowWolf placed first with a time of 3:38.55 in the 4x400 meter.

Ty Yager was first in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 43.75 seconds. Carrasco finished first in the 200 meter run with a time of 23.1 seconds. Carrasco also placed first in the 400 meter run at 50.79. Davis polled a first place finish in the 800 meter at 2:12. Jeffery Muiri was second in the 300 intermediate hurdles with a time of 45.23. Kerby Depenbusch had a first place long distance run of 4:52.88 in the 1600 meter.

In field events, Andrew Morss reeled in a first place finish with a jump of 6 feet in the high jump. Jayce Brack took first place in the shot and the discuss with throws of 49.10 feet and 147.2 feet respectively. Zane Pierce finished third in the shot throwing 48.2 feet.

Other field events had Falk taking third in the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 18.4 feet and 38.5 feet.

Cal Marshall; 2nd place in a time of 23.96

800m

Eric Vazquez; 2nd place in a time of 2:13.36

In girls competition, the Panthers took the gold in the 4x 800 and 4x400 meter relays. The quad of Kaylan Lagerman, Mariah Stein, Karen Razo and Mary Wiliams placed first in the 4x800 relay with a time of 10:38.64. Lagerman, LaCora Bryant, Macy Moyers and Camryn Dunekack were first in the 4x400 and timed in at 4:23.12.

In the 400 meter run, Dunekack finished in first place at 1:01.69. LaCora Bryant was first in the 100 meter at 13.15.

In field evetns, Kate Warren nailed a first place finish in the discus with a throw of 106.8 feet.
