HAVEN — Haven outlasted Hoisington 7-4 in a wild opener and beat the Cardinals 15-0 in the nightcap in Friday’s Central Kansas League doubleheader sweep. Haven (15-3) secures second place in the CKL and Hoisington (8-9) plays CKL champion Pratt (15-1) at home Tuesday.
WILDCATS 7, CARDINALS 4 — Hoisington pitcher Delaney Smith threw a solid game, but five errors led to four unearned Haven runs.
Haven’s Bailey Brawner and Haley Harner delivered RBI hits in a two-run first inning. The Cardinals scored two runs when Trinity Dolezel scored on a passed ball and Emma Harmon singled home Sydney Boxberger after she reached on a second-inning error.
Haven’s Brawner singled home Hendrixson and Brawner scored on Monica Giesick’s groundout in a two-run third inning. Emmiley Hendixson’s two-run double drove home Lexi Hoskinson and Kylie Hefling after back-to-back fourth-inning erroprs. Harner singled home Hendrixson.
Aurora Ingram’s RBI single drove home Harmon and Tyann Schremmer scored on a passed ball in a two-run fifth inning.
WILDCATS 15, CARDINALS 0 — Hoisington’s Ingram delivered two hits and Brooke Bachar, Schremmer, Kenzie Wolf and Harmon had base hits. The Cardinals loaded the bases in the second inning when Brawner retired Tyann Schrammer on a groundout.
Haven’s Brawner drove in three runs off losing pitcher Boxberger. Hendrixson, Taylor Bredfeldt and Bethany Simon each drove in two runs.
