HOISINGTON 47, CIMARRON 22
CIMARRON — Hoisington back Sean Urban scored a career high six touchdowns to spark the Cardinals past Cimarron 47-22 in Tuesday’s Class 3A football playoff game. The Cardinals (7-3) play No. 1-ranked Phillipsburg (10-0) at home Saturday.
The Cardinals’ improving offensive line of Chandler Blackwell, Riley Philbern, Jason Bradley, Eric Barrett and Jared Curtis dominated Cimarron up front.
Urban raced 24 yards and 61 yards as Hoisington scored on its first two drives for a 14-0 lead. Urban added touchdown runs of 2, 3, 10 and 69 yards to cap a 293-yard rushing night. Rudy Gearhart scored on a 32-yard run. The Cardinals rushed for 393 yards.
“Sean’s a tough back who runs physical,” said Hoisington coach Zach Baird. “When he gets in space, he’s tough to catch.”
The Cardinals limited Cimarron to 205 yards and touchdowns by Kansas State recruit Jaylen Pickel, Josh Seabolt and Dylan Harrison.
“Defensively, the guys played extremely hard and physical,” Baird said.
