HUGOTON — The Hoisington High School softball concluded its season with a 2-1 loss to Hugoton on Monday in regional play.
“It was a wall played game by both teams,” Hoisington head coach Lee Van Scyoc said. “We had only one miscue but really lost a great opportunity to do some damage in the fifth when we failed to score.”
The Lady Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning. A walk, two outs and an RBI double by the Lady Eagles.
Hoisington stranded runners on second and third in the top of the sixth, but Hugoton was able to get runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh on a walk and an error.
The Lady Cardinals intentionally walked a Hugoton batter to load the bases, but the next batter hit a low line drive off of the pitcher’s leg to score the winning run.
