CANTON — The Hoisington High School softball team was swept by Canton-Galva on Thursday in a doubleheader.
The Lady Eagles won 10-0 and 9-4.
Hoisington drops to 5-5 overall this season.
The Lady Eagles led 4-0 after two innings and ended the game in the fifth inning after three errors allowed six runs for the 10-0 win.
“We just came off our best performance on Tuesday against Larned and followed that with out worst outing of the year,” Hoisington head coach Lee Van Scyoc said. “Not only did we commit several errors, we also made several bad decisions where to go with the ball.
“These mental mistakes don’t show up in the score book.”
Bailey Barnard took the loss in the first game.
The Lady Cardinals took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning behind the pitching effort of Tanna Hickel.
Three hits turned into three runs for Canton-Galva in the fifth to turn the game in the Lady Eagles’ favor 6-4.
Hoisington never recovered and Canton-Galva scored three more in the bottom of the sixth.
“We played a little better in the second game but again not up to our capabilities,” Van Scyoc said. “We are going to have to be more focused in our practices and more consistent in our game play.”
The Lady Cardinals travel to Russell on Tuesday.
