HAYS — Hoisington High School has two wrestlers still contending for Class 3-1A state tournament titles at Gross Memorial Coliseum after Friday's competition.

"We had a lot of kids win in the first round, but we had a rough second round," Cardinals head coach Dan Schmidt said. "I think Norton has (the team title). I think they'll win it going away."

Hoisington's Brandon Ball (126-pound weight class) and Chance Demel (145) won their first two matches to advance into the championship bracket.

The Cardinals' Hagen Hanzlick (182), Avery Urban (195) and Cayton Janousek (220) won their first matches, but fell in the second round.

Hoisington's Landon Harmon (113) and Darwin Brickley (285) were eliminated after losing back-to-back matches on Friday.
