RUSSELL — The Hoisington High School softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Russell, 10-0 and 7-6.
“We started the day like the previous doubleheader when we didn’t show up to play,” Hoisington head coach Lee Van Scyoc said. “Two error’s and a base on balls in the first inning set the tone for the game. Bailey Barnard didn’t have her best stuff and coupled with some poor defense, allowed Russell to score four runs in the first inning.
“We couldn’t do anything right in that first game.”
The Lady Cardinals took a 6-5 lead into the seventh inning, but an outfield error and a passed ball resulted in two runs.
Hoisington travels to Ellis on Monday.
