Lady Cards win without starting point guard

LARNED — The Hoisington High School girls’ basketball team were able to beat Kiowa County without its starting point guard.
Jordin Greer will be out for four to six weeks after breaking her finger in the second half of the season opener against Central Plains.
Senior Belle Brickley started in the sophomore’s place for Hoisington (1-1), which beat Kiowa County 47-34.
Mallory Flagor scored a team-leading 16 points and Savannah Rose finished with 12 points.

Otis-Bison 37, Larned 22
LARNED — The Otis-Bison girls played stingy defense against host Larned at the Keady Basketball Classic.
The Lady Cougar were led by Janel Tammen, who finished with 15 points. Hannah Bannister also scored in double digits with 12.
Larned was led by Tiara Diaz, who scored six points. Katie Seeman and Jessie Johnson each scored five points.

Kiowa County 25

LARNED — Hoisington advanced to the semifinal game of the Keady Basketball Classic in Larned after upending Kiowa County.
Cody Stetler, the 6-foot-8 junior post player, led the Cardinals with 22 points.
Derrick Kaiser scored 21 points.
Anthony Broeder finished with 12 points.

Larned 52, Otis-Bison 40
LARNED — The Larned boys were able to take advantage of turnovers to beat Otis-Bison and advance to the semifinal game against Hoisington on Friday.
Cameron Brown, the son of Larned’s new head coach Kevin Brown, led the Indians (1-0) with 22 points.
Jahman Hill added 12 points for the host team.
Otis-Bison (1-1) was led by Dylan Wissman, who scored 11 points.
Brandon Pechanec added nine points and Trevor Keller scored eight.

 Macksville 69, Kinsley 38

LARNED — Adolfo Ibarra led Macksville with 20 points in the win over Kinsley at the Keady Basketball Classic in Larned.
Macksville held a 32-24 lead at halftime, but put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Coyotes 24-5.

LARNED — The Macksville girls’ basketball team got bumped to the consolation bracket of the Keady Basketball Classic in Larned on Monday by Kinsley.
The Lady Coyotes jumped ahead 24-4 after the first quarter, leaving the Lady Mustangs behind.
Point guard Keira Parr led Macksville with 11 points.
