HOISINGTON — The Central Plains High School girls’ tennis team dominated a quadrangular hosted by Hoisington on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Oilers had a near sweep to take first place. The Lady Cardinals captured second, and St. John finished third.
“We lost only one match in No. 2 singles,” Central Plains head coach Gary Bittner said. “Otherwise, we swept the other matches. Alice lost to the girl from St. John.”
It is the second straight meet that the Lady Oilers have won this season, with a win in Ellsworth last Tuesday.
“I told the girls on the way here today, that most of the time, significant progress happens between the first and second competitions,” Bittner said. “We had a much stronger outing this time.”
Lady Cardinals head coach Kerry Mooney said that he was pleased with how his team did.
“We had a good day,” Mooney said. “Both our doubles team took second. Our No. 1 singles took third. Of course, we took second behind Central Plains, but Central Plains is a very good team.”
Lady Tigers head coach Rebecca Luckner said that while she saw some little things she’d like to work on, she thought her team was where they needed to be early in the season.
“I thought we did pretty good,” Luckner said. “I see some little things here and there, but they are doing well.”
