HAYS — Great Bend High School senior McKenna Mauler carded a 51 at the 2013 Hays High Lady Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, claiming seventh place.
The Lady Panthers combined for fourth place to open their season at the nine-hole invite behind Western Athletic Conference opponents Garden City, Hays and Dodge City.
“I thought we played pretty well for our first time out,” Great Bend head coach Troy Stein said. “It’s a tough course, and we shot some very good scores. I thought McKenna could’ve done a little better, but she finished seventh, so it wasn’t a bad day.
“I think when you talk to any golfer, they’ll tell you it could’ve been better with a shot here or a shot there, but she did very well.”
Hannah Mauler finished with a 54, Taylor Mohr added a 57, Michaela Cape recorded a 60 and Kacee Kasselman and Maddie Vesta each shot 64.
Great Bend travels to Salina Central on Tuesday for a meet, starting at 3 p.m.
