HESSTON — Hoisington ninth-grader Danye Yott (18:49.1) won the Hesston Classic cross country race for ninth-graders. Larned’s Gage Myers placed eighth (20:51.8).
Larned’s boys finished second with 105 points in the Class 3-1A division behind two-time defending state champion Halstead (50). The races were run in a driving rain, which made the course challenging to manuveuer.
Larned’s Danyon Green placed fourth (19:26.8) in the senior division won by Kiowa County’s Frank Cuevas (17:38.2).
Larned’s Thomas Harmon placed fourth (19:09.8) and teammate Justin Giesbrecht finished eighth (19:32.1) in the junior race won by Ashten Dodson (18:15.5) of Douglass.
In the sophomore girls race, Hoisington’s Jessi Kindscher placed fifth (23:56.6) and Larned’s Brooke Butler placed 10th (25:09.4) in a race won by Caroline Giles of Minneapolis (22:31.1).
