LARNED — Larned’s No. 1 singles Dalton Penka and No. 1 doubles Andrew Bright-Logan DeMond captured first place to spark the Indians to the team title at Tuesday’s Larned Tennis Invitational. The Indians scored 22 points and Cimarron placed second (15). Coach Mark Lessard leads the Indians.
Penka finished with a 3-0 record, beating Cimarron’s Ambrose Shaughnessy, 7-2 for first place. Bright and DeMond downed Ellinwood’s Caleb Bookout-Brook Degenhardt, Ellinwood, 7-6 (7-3) in a tiebreaker for first place.
No. 2 singles Braxton Moral of Ulysses defeated Larned’s Trevor Coulson, 7-4 for first place.
At No. 1 doubles, Cimarron’s Weston Bryant-Garet Walker edged Ulysses’ Brandon Barbo-Carson King, 7-6 (10-8) in a tiebreaker. Ellinwood’s Nathan Ringwald-Landon Robl earned third place with a 7-5 victory over Larned’s Britton Herrman-Joe Theis.
