Middleton signs with SBU to play softball

Southwest Baptist University head softball coach Jim Flora has announced the signing of three athlete’s for the 2016 season, including Hunter Middleton, a senior at Great Bend High School. She is the daughter of Shari and Brett Middleton.
“We are really excited with our fall early signees,” coach Flora said. “We have made real improvements over the last year and we believe that Kori, Taylor, and Hunter will continue moving our program in the right direction. All three are great athletes and great students. They will make an impact at SBU on more than just the softball field.”
Hunter has played a large role in the success that our program has been able to experience over the last three years,” said GBHS softball coach Carrie Minton. “She is a very hard working and determined young lady who has been a great leader for our team in the circle. She has been a three year starter for the Lady Panther Softball program.”
Middleton has recorded 242 strikeouts during those three seasons. She has been recognized as a 1st Team all Conference player as well as an Honorable Mention All-State player. “We look forward to a great senior season for Hunter and we are extremely happy that Hunter is going to continue her softball career beyond high school,” Minton said.
“Hunter is one of the best pitchers in the state of Kansas. She will be a great addition to our pitching staff,” said coach Flora. “Hunter throws the ball with great velocity and movement. Hunter has averaged almost 10 strikeouts per game in her career. She plays at a very high level during the summer and that exposure will give her the opportunity to compete at this level right away. Hunter is a great student and person and she will be impact player in our program for the next  four years.”

She has not completed her senior softball season yet.
