HAYS— Great Bend junior golfer Allison Neeland recorded a score of 48 while finishing in the top ten at Monday’s Hays High Lady Invitational. Neeland’s seventh place finish was a point ahead of Liberal’s Sarah Bayouth. Taylor Deboer of Hays was the top medalist with a score of 39.
“We struggled as a team with our lack of experience,” said coach Travis McAtee. “Playing a difficult course to open the season was very challenging for the girls and we’ll need to get back to work in practice to be better prepared for the next tournament.”
Other competitors representing GBHS were juniors Taylor Hommertzheim (64), Mikayla Bownes (68), and Kaily Griffith (77). Sophomore Halley Sanders finished the day with a score of 71.
As a team the Panthers placed seventh out of seven teams competing in Monday’s season opener with a score of 251. TMP was the top finisher at 195 followed by Garden City (213), Hays (219), Salina Central (220), Liberal (228) and Dodge City (231).
Great Bend will compete at Salina Central on Tuesday, September 8.
