HOISINGTON— Taylor Rolfs finished in double figure kills in each of Central Plains’ five matches as the Oilers posted yet another sweep at Saturday’s Hoisington Invitational.
The Oilers, who have maintained a No. 1 ranking in Class 2A for more than week, improve to 20-0 following last weekend’s showing.
“These girls continue to amaze me with their abilities and chemistry on the floor,” CPHS coach Kim Rolfs said. “They were pushed several times during the day and showed no signs of defeat.”
Central Plains did not lose a set during the entire five-match weekend. Two of the five opponents CPHS faced are state ranked.
The Oilers opened with a two set victory over St. John by scores of 25-11, 25-9. Rolfs led all scorers with 11 kills while setter Cassidy Crites tallied 11 assists in the victory. Kylee Kasselman scooped out 13 digs to lead the defense. Rolfs added a pair of aces in the win while Kasselman and Taylor Oeser added an ace each.
The Oilers then defeated No. 9 Smith Center (2A) in a two set victory by scores of 25-15, 25-15. Rolfs again led scorers with 15 kills. Crites nailed down a double double with 16 assists and 10 digs. Rolfs, Reagan Phelan, Kasselman and Oeser recorded an ace each in that victory.
Rolfs saddled 11 kills in a 25-18, 25-20 sweep of No. 2 TMP (4A,DII) in the third match of the day. Crites added 11 set assists while Kassidy Pflughoeft grabbed 12 digs from the backline.
Central Plains kept the momentum with a 25-16, 25-11 beating of tournament host Hoisington. In that match Rolfs put up a dozen kills while Cassidy Crites totaled 10 assists. Kylee Kasselman led defenders with seven digs while Crites and Chelsey Bieberle recorded and ace each.
In the final match of the day Central Plains made quick work of Phillipsburg in scores of 25-16, 25-11. Rolfs closed out the afternoon with 15 kills with Kasselman leading the defense with seven digs. Crites supplied 10 assists.
“Playing TMP was a challenge,” said Rolfs. “We found ourselves down late in set two and managed to believe in ourselves and each other to get it done. When these girls decide to turn their switch on they are amazing.”
