WAKEENEY — Central Plains’ defending Class 3-1A state doubles champions Keeley Hipp and Janae Ryan advanced to the Class 3A state tournament with a regional title at the Class 3A WaKeeney tennis regional. Hipp-Ryan (32-0) defeated Osborne’s Breiton Wolters-Savannah Noel, 6-0, 6-2 in the finals.
Central Plains singles player Emily Ryan (27-5) defeated Victoria’s Hannah Radke, 6-3, 6-1, in the finals to win the singles division. Central Plains scored 14 points to win the regional over Victoria (13).
The fifth-seeded Hoisington doubles team of Emma Harmon and Tyann Schremmer (27-11) defeated third-seed Tori Lamb-Jessie Graves of Ellworth, (19-13), 7-5, 6-3, for third place.
Central Plains and Hoisington will compete Friday and Saturday at Wichita Riverside Park for the Class 3-1A state tournament.
