At Claflin, Central Plains (5-0) roared past Canton-Galva 50-0.

CLAFLIN - Oiler quarterback Devin Ryan threw for six touchdown passes to spark Central Plains past Canton-Galva 50-0 in Friday's Eight-Man 1 District 5 opener. Central Plains (5-0, 1-0 District) passed for 160 yards and rushed for 60 yards.
Receiver Alex Barton caught three touchdown passes of 24, 33 and 55 yards. Brett Liebl had TD catches of 2 and 11 yards. Dalton Beck caught a 20-yard touchdown pass. Jacob McAtee added a 9-yard TD.
Anthony Oberle interceped a pass and Beck and Liebl recovered fumbles. Beck and Barton each accounted for eight tackles and assists.

At Ellinwood, St. John stunned Ellinwood 22-20 to capture a key Eight-Man I District 5 ballgame.

ELLINWOOD - St. John spoiled Ellinwood's Homecoming with a 22-20 Eight-Man I District 5 football victory on a safety with 18 seconds left.
The game-deciding play came after Ellinwood drew a 5-yard penalty that forced the Eagles to punt again from near their own goal-line. The snap sailed over Peyton Duvall's head.
Ellinwood (1-4, 0-1 District) led 20-6 after Peyton Duvall caught a 65-yard TD pass.
The Tigers (3-2, 10-1-0 District) scored the final 16 points, including the tying 2-pointer by quarterback Jorge Calleros with 1:55 left. Calleros completed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Neri-Leon on 4th-and-15 with 2:03 left.
Ellinwood quarterback Myles Menges completed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Landon Robl and a 65-yard touchdown pass to Peyton Duvall. RB Destin Baker scored on a 41-yard touchdown and rushed for 118 yards.
