Panther junior track competes at Ellinwood jv

ELLINWOOD— Great Bend boys jv track finished with 77 team points and a fourth place finish out of nine teams at Tuesday’s junior varsity meet in Ellinwood. Meanwhile the Panther girls jv finished sixth with 38 points.

“Our young jv kids did a nice job of competing in this meet,” said coach Todd Kaiser. “We had some kids who turned in season best performances which is starting to add depth to our team.”

Great Bend’s Andrew Morss was the top runner in the 100 meter dash timing in at 11.82 while James Bacon won the 200 meter with a sprint of 25.08.  

Morss also had a big day with first place finishes in the javelin and high jump with a throw of 132.2 ft. and a leap of 5.8 ft. Kyler Merten was first in the pole vault at 9.6 ft.

Koby Schroeder; 2nd place with a throw of 30.8 ft.

Pole Vault

Braxton Schooler; 2nd place with a vault of 8 ft.

In the girls meet, Baleigh Fry took the top spot in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.15.

“We need to keep improving on our performances with each track meet as the season progresses,” said Kaiser. “That comes with continuing to work hard in practice.”
