MCPHERSON— Aleah Urban, Gage Fritz and Reece Morss all placed as top competitors in their respective events at Thursday’s middle school track and field meet in McPherson. The latter part of the meet was called off as showers and thunderstorms moved through the area resulting in the completion of only three running events for Great Bend. All field events, except the seventh grade girls discus, were completed.
Urban won gold in the seventh grade girls 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.57. Fritz was the top sprinter in the seventh grade boys 100 meter dash clocking in at 12.72 while Morss finished the day as the top triple jumper in boys eighth grade with a leap of 40.2 ft.
Other medal winners for Great Bend included Dalton Miller who placed second in the 100 meter dash (12.79) as Fritz beat Miller by only seven one-hundredths of a second. Morss also placed third in the seventh grade boys long jump at 15.4 ft. Morss won silver in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.36.
