Great Bend’s Isaac Panzer earned Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year honors. Great Bend coach Steve Beaumont earned WAC Coach of the Year hinors for the WAC champions. Great Bend scored 405 points to capture the WAC team title.
First-team All-WAC selections were Panzer (50 free, 100 free); Cole Pierce (200 free, 500 free); Matt Huslig (200 IM); the 200 free relay (Huslig, Malachi Williams, Allen To, Panzer); and the 400 free relay (Huslig, Pierce, Daniel Abbott and Panzer).
Panzer and Pierce were double WAC champions, Panzer swept the 50 free (23.38) and 100 free (51.99) with a WAC meet record. Pierce swept the 200 free (2:01.42) and 500 free (5:29.3) with a WAC meet record.
Huslig won the 200 IM (2:18.22). The Panthers captured the 200 free relay (1:39.68) behind Huslig, Malachi Williams, Allen To and Panzer. The 400 free relay (3:40.1) broke the WAC meet record with Huslig, Pierce, Daniel Abbott and Panzer competing.
Panzer placed 12th in the 50 free (22.89) and 13th in the 100 free (50.69) in the 5A state meet. The 400 relay placed 13th (3:34.47). Pierce, competing for LaCrosse High School, plaved 10th in the 500 free (5:13.92).
