Nick Moyers and his Great Bend High School teammates are embarking on the Class 5A state tennis tournament today and Saturday at Emporia High School.

A seedings meeting was scheduled for this morning at 10, with the introduction of state participants following at 11. The first matches will start around noon, according to GBHS head coach Shannon Schartz.

Moyers takes a 27-6 record into singles play. The Panthers' Austin Jacobs and Chase Buntain are 28-5 in doubles play, and Adam Neeland and Grant Harris are 7-5 after getting paired up in late in the season.

The five state qualifiers are the most in GBHS boys' tennis history. All are seniors with the exception of Harris, a sophomore.

The Panthers recorded a third-place finish at a regional meet last weekend in Salina. They have won back-to-back Western Athletic Conference championships, with Moyers being named WAC Player of the Year after Harris captured the same award as a freshman in 2012.
