Wondra leads GBHS JV in rout of Tigers

Great Bend High School junior varsity quarterback Shade Wondra connected with running back Trent Uselton for three touchdowns against Ulysses on Monday evening at Memorial Stadium.
The Panthers finished the Tigers off 40-8 to improve to 2-0 on the JV football season.
Wondra’s TD passes to Uselton included 22- and 9-yard aerials in the first half. Uselton dragged in a score in the second half as well.
Wondra also dropped the ball into the hands of Jack Westhoff in the corner of the end zone for a 27-yard score at the end of the second quarter.
Elijah Conner scooped a fumble and scored a touchdown with 8:05 remaining in the half.
Darion Yager scored a rushing touchdown in the second half.
The Panthers travel to Garden City next Monday for a Western Athletic Conference game. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

GBHS freshmen tripped up by Ulysses
The Great Bend freshman team fell to the Ulysses ‘C’ team 14-0 on Monday afternoon.
The only touchdown scored in the first half came from Tigers’ quarterback True Shipley, who rushed for a 22-yard touchdown with three seconds remaining in the first quarter.
The Panthers (0-2) had two trips to the red zone in the first half, but both drives ended on downs at the 3-yard line.
Jacob Irvin scored for the Tigers in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard scamper. A 2-point conversion made it 14-0.
