SALINA— Great Bend Middle School eighth grade boys cross country runners placed seven competitors in the top 10 to win Tuesday’s Salina Central meet.
Jesus Sanchez once again was the top finisher with a time of 9:09.91. Ryan Nicholson won the bronze with a third place time of 9:21.52 while Josh Tomlin (9:27.34), Israel Franco (9:29.82) and Connor Griffith (9:39.43) placed fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
Alex Smith (9:38.49), Humberto Alonzo (9:38.90), Sage Cauley (9:39.24) and Ray Kuhlman (9:41.30) came in ninth, tenth, 11th and 12th.
Other top 20 finishers for the eighth grade boys include Luke Maneth (14th, 9:54.04) and Rogelio Arias (20th, 10:07.19).
In eighth grade girls competition McKenna Esfeld placed fourth in a time of 11:02.87. Ashley Anderson and Crystal Vasquez finished sixth and seventh with times of 11:08.47 and 11:10.35.
Aubrey Snapp was the top runner for the GBMS seventh grade girls. Snapp finished in sixth place with a time of 6:41.74. Jordan Stukey (12th) and MaKayla Satterfield (16th) placed in the top 20 in times of 7:02.79 and 7:10.61.
In the seventh grade boys race Great Bend placed four runners in the top 20.
Jaime Arrelanes finished with an eighth place time of 6:11.04 while Riley Slater placed 10th in 6:12.79. Kaiden Procopio (14th) and Matthew Huslig (19th) finished with times of 6:28.61 and 6:40.03.
