Sixteen GBHS student-athletes receive WAC honors

Great Bend High School posted 16 student-athletes and a coach to the WAC awards list for spring 2015.

In softball, senior pitcher Hunter Middleton was tabbed as WAC Player of the Year. Middleton broke the school record for season strikeouts and wins. Other softball players listed to the first team All-WAC squad include senior Dakota Sanders, senior Hannah Mauler, senior Regan Unruh and senior Kacee Kasselman. Juniors Morgan Kottas, Hannah Honomichl and Lauren Welsch were listed as honorable mentions. Head coach Carrie Minton was named the 2015 WAC softball Coach of the Year after guiding the Panthers to the state tournament along with conference and regional titles.

Great Bend junior Brady Michel earned WAC baseball Player of the Year recognition. Fellow junior Anson Hall was also listed as first team All-WAC honoree. Seniors Jack Westhoff and Shade Wondra and sophomore Bryce Lytle were named as honorable mentions.

In girls soccer, senior Jessica Loera and sophomore Keely Ireland were named to the first team All-WAC list. Sophomore Alma Garay was listed as honorable mention.
