LARNED — The Smoky Valley Vikings’ boys put on a 3-point shooting clinic Friday evening to race to a 75-58 Central Kansas League victory over Larned.
The Vikings made 13 of 25 three-point attempts while shooting 52 percent. They made five of the treys in the first quarter for a 21-11 lead.
Larned closed within six points when the Vikings would hit a couple more of those long 3-pointers to pull away. The two teams combined for 52 points in the third quarter as the Vikings built a 64-46 lead.
The Vikings were led in scoring by 6-4 Jacob Adams’ 21 points and nine rebounds. Brett Heitschmidt drained six 3-pointers and piled up 20 points. Nick Reinert contributed 16. The Vikings (11-7, 6-2 CKL) plays Hillsboro Tuesday.
Larned (3-16, 0-9 CKL) plays Lyons (1-18, 0-9 CKL) Tuesday. The Indians were led in scoring by freshman Chance Sanger’s 14 points. Jonathan Herter added 13 and Mason Schartz 10.
