ST. JOHN — Jorge Calleros scored 18 points to lead defending league champion
St. John past Ellinwood 66-36 in a Central Prairie League basketball game Tuesday.
St. John (8-1, 3-0) led 36-17 at halftime. Cole Kinnamon scored 13 points to go with nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Chase Fisher scored 10 points. Alex Valenzuela dished out five assists. The No. 2 seeded Tigers will play Nickerson in the St. John Midwinter Classic Jan. 21.
Ellinwood (5-3, 1-1) was paced by Kaleb Schartz with 12 points and Cody Wondra with 11 points.

MACKSVILLE — Morgan West scored 24 points and LaCrosse’s girls rolled past Macksville 57-36 in a Central Prairie League basketball game Tuesday.
State-ranked LaCrosse (8-1, 2-0 CPL) led 17-0 after one period. The Mustangs (2-6, 0-2 CPL) was paced by Sophie Filbert with 12 points and Emma Stimatze added 11 points. The Mustangs play at Ellinwood Friday.

Freshman Ashlee Miller led the Tigers with 11 points.
