ELLSWORTH — Hoisington High champions were Christopher Ball (145), Austin McHenry (195) and Landen Urban (285) at the Ellsworth Wrestling Tournament. Hoisington placed second with 121 points.
In the finals, Ball posted a 6-4 decision over T.J. Ragnoni of Minneapolis. McHenry pinned Osborne’s Derek Naegele in 1:21 in the finals. Landen Urban pinned Hesston’s Patrick Deegan in 1:26 in the finals.
Justin Bradley (220) was runner-up with a 9-3 loss to Abel Alvarez  of SE of Saline in the finals. Tanner Cassity (126) and Sean Urban (160) placed third. Cassity beat Larned’s Marcus Nolde 7-6 for third place. Urban beat Nickerson’s Alex Snell 12-4.
Dustin Edmonson (138) placed fourth. Jeremy Breit (170) placed sixth and Benjamin Schneider (182) placed sixth.
Hoisington’s state runner-up Christopher Ball (145) dropped a weight class and is ranked first in Class 3A. Ball lost to St. Marys’ Greg Tooley in last year’s state final. Justin Bradley (220) is ranked second and Landen Urban (285) is ranked second after a fifth-place finish last year. The Cardinals are ranked third in Class 3A.
Christopher Ball was state runner-up and Landen Urban placed fifth and Cassity sixth at Class 3-1A state last year.
