The Western Athletic Conference track meet is set for today at Dodge City, starting at 4.
It will be the last chance for regular-season competition before Great Bend High School competes in a Class 5A regional meet at Salina Central on Friday, May 17. Field events start at 2:30 p.m.
The Panthers will look to be led by senior pole vaulter Chris Burley, who shattered a school record during the Great Bend Invitational by reaching 15 feet to beat his previous school record of 14-6, which he set at the WAC meet last season.
The Lady Panthers will look to pole vaulters Hannah Middleton, who finished first at the Salina Central Invitational on Friday with a height of 10-0.
Throwers Jayce Brack and Nick Warren look to continue success after Brack took second in the shot put and Warren finished second in the discus at Salina Central.
Great Bend to host
WAC swim meet
The Great Bend Lady Panthers will look to claim their 11th straight conference title today at Kirkman Activity Center, starting at 4.
Their biggest challenge will be from Garden City, which has beaten the Lady Panthers the last two meets they’ve competed together this season.
The last time Great Bend went against Garden City, the Lady Buffaloes won by 10 points.
Hannah Hildebrand and Allison Damm look to lead the Lady Panthers after winning a pair of events during their last meet at Newton.
