St. John’s Morgan Gunter (155) and Ellinwood’s Gracyn Dombroski (143) achieved school history as the first girls to qualify for the KSHSAA state wrestling championship at Salina Feb. 23-24.
Gunter (8-12) earned her 4-1A state berth at Whitewater with a 1-0 decision over Douglass’ Dakotah Whitt. Haven’s Trista Rogers defeated Gunter 3-0 for third place.
Gracyn Dombroski (14-16) earned her 4-1A state berth at Colby with a pin over Concordia’s Teggan Workman (4;54). Hays TMP’s Claudine Stein pinned Dombroski (1:18) for third place.
