WAMEGO – St. John Tiger A.J. Miller (17:37.59) ended a stellar season with an eighth-place state medal in the 1A state cross country championship. The Tigers finished fifth (82) in a competitive field led by state champion Berean Academy (49) followed by Axtell (54) and Beloit St. John’s (62) and Osborne (62).

“That was one of A.J. Miller’s best times, faster than last year,” said St. John coach Joel Delp. “Uriel Calleros ran a great race and just missed a top 20 medal.”

St. John’s Uriel Calleros barely missed a top 20 medal at 21st (18:23.77) followed by 44th Trey Fisher, 19:10.77; 53rd Dalton Nemec, 19:31.25; 60th Marshall Woolf, 19:56.75; and 65th Dylan Reed, 20:22.25.

Beloit St. John’s medalist Caleb Eilert (16:22.97) beat Hutchinson Central Christian’s Collin Oswalt (16:49.49) for a state championship.
