Pawnee Heights misses track season

ROZEL — Pawnee Heights Tiger 1A state qualifier Jaden Carlson (long jump, 800) missed the opportunity for a record-breaking junior season, according to Pawnee Heights coach Rick Carlson.

Coach Carlson said Jaden would’ve contended for 1A state track medals in the long jump and 800 meters.

Jaden Carlson placed sixth in the 1A 800 (2:29.23) and seventh in the 1A long jump (16-23/4) and 15th (14-3) in 2018. She placed first in the SPIAA 800 (2:35.7), first in the long jump (16-0) and second in the 1,600 (5:59.13).

“Jaden placed at state in 2019 in long jump (7th) and 800 (6th). She would’ve been one of the area's top long jumpers and 800 runners.”

Madison Polson barely missed qualifying for the state meet with a fifth-place regional finish in the triple jump. She placed third in the SPIAA triple jump (32-4)

“Madison Polson placed 5th in the triple jump at regionals and would’ve been one of the area's top triple jumpers. Kylee Scott placed fifth in the 3,200 meters at Regionals and would’ve been one of the area's top 3,200 runners.”

The Tigers featured a strong 3,200-meter relay team with Polson, Yeimi Cordero, August Hauck and Nazareth Rios-Valles returning.

High jumper Braden Colglazier placed fourth in the SPIAA high jump (5-4) and was poised for an improved sophomore season.
