Trio of Balls lead local Kids Wrestling Club at state meet

The Great Bend Kids Wrestling Club competed at the Kids State Wrestling Championships in Topeka on March 26-27.
The team tied for eighth place with Garden City out of the 174-team field.
Great Bend recorded four first-place finishes in Topeka — with three of them coming from brothers.
In the 12-and-under division, Jonathan Ball took first place in the 92-pound weight division.
Christopher Ball, who was the only wrestler from Great Bend to place in the 10-and-under division, took first place in the 85-pound weight class.
Brandon Ball ruled the 110-pound class of the 14-and-under division, taking first place.
Great Bend had one more state champion in Kade Sander, who won the 135-pound class.
Josiah Ball competed in both the state meet in Topeka in the eight-and-under division, but also competed at a state meet in Ottawa on Sunday, March 20, for six-and-under kids. He took home fourth place at each meet in the 40-pound class.
Great Bend also had one girl place at the state meet on Sunday, March 13. Kimberly Murphy took first place in the 96-pound class of the 12-and-under division.
