HILLSBORO — Hillsboro's late-inning magic shocked Hoisington with walkoff victories, 7-6 and 10-9 in Friday's Central Kansas League baseball doubleheader. The Cardinals needed three last-inning outs to win each game. The Trojans scored the opening game-winner in the eighth inning and rallied for six runs in the nightcap.

Hoisington (11-5, 9-5 CKL) drops into fourth place heading to Larned (9-7, 7-7 CKL) May 3. Hillsboro improves to 9-5, 8-4 CKL.

HILLSBORO 7, HOISINGTON 6 (G1) — Hillsboro forced extra inning with two runs and won the eight-inning affair when Brooks Gardner singled home Noel Reynolds. Hunter Hein's two-run seventh-inning homer off pitcher Braxton Donovan tied the score 6-6.

Hoisington's Jerred Bieberle scored on a first-inning error and Jacob Specht's two-run homer drove home Myles Menges for a 3-0 lead. Hillsboro's Hein drove in Reynolds with a groundout.

HILLSBORO 10, HOISINGTON 9 (G2) — The Cardinals led 9-2, well on their way for a split when Hillsboro rallied for eight runs. The Trojans scored two runs on errors and a third run on a wild pitch. Hein hit a sacrifice fly for the Trojans' fourth run.

Hein drilled a two-run homer to score Brooks Gardner to start the game-ending six-run rally. Jorge Hanschu singled and three walks followed. Phillip Young's single off relief pitcher Avery Brewer made it 9-8. Caleb Potucek's single scored Jaxon Hanschu and Jess Philpott with the tying and winning runs.

Donovan scored on Brewer's first-inning sacrifice fly. Brewer hit an RBI double. Hunter Hanzlick hit a two-run single and Trey Byers hit a sacrifice fly for a 5-2 lead.
