The Royals and Rangers conclude a four-game series today as Jeremy Guthrie pitches against Ross Detwiler at Globe Life Park.
Guthrie (2-2, 5.70 ERA) is fresh off his best outing of the season in which he held the Tigers to two runs and eight hits in 7 1/3 innings. Guthrie is 5-4 with a 3.40 ERA in his career against the Rangers.
Meanwhile, Detwiler (0-4, 7.22 ERA) looks for his first win of the season against a tough Royals lineup. It will be the first time he has faced the Royals in his career.
“They don’t try to get too big,” Detwiler said of the Royals. “They try to get timely hitting, get guys in scoring position, move them over. I have to try to combat that and get the leadoff hitter out in every inning, put some pressure on them a little more.”
