The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.

It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes a resolution regarding the National Opioid Settlement funding, the 2022 tax sale, a wireless door and alarm system for the Juvenile Justice Authority, an upgrade to the county’s camera surveillance system, a new vehicle for the Appraiser’s Office and the Central Kansas Community Corrections fiscal year 2021 year-end outcomes.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

• 10 a.m. – redistricting of the City of Great Bend with County Clerk Bev Schmeidler.  

• 10:15 a.m. – request for proposal review for bulk mailing of certified notice of values and municipal property tax exemptions with County Appraiser Wendy Prosser. 

• 10:30 a.m. – memorial parks with Register of Deeds Pam Wornkey.  

• 10:45 a.m. – purchase of stone for the memorial and needed repairs for the memorial parks monuments with County Works Director Darren Williams and Mick Lang of the Memorial Parks Committee. 

• 11:15 a.m. – review of vehicle bids with Health Director Karen Winkelman.

• 11:30 a.m. – business update with County Treasurer Jim Jordan.

• 1 p.m. – review of burn ban process with Emergency Risk Manager Amy Miller and 911 Director Dena Popp.  

• 1:30 p.m. – regular business discussion to include a remote work policy with Director of Operations Matt Patzner.
