The Barton Community College eSports program received exciting news this past week as six teams received postseason invitations for the 2021 Fall NJCAAE Playoffs. Earning four group teams and a pair of individual berths, the Cougars opened the postseason Monday evening,

Opening postseason play for the Cougars was the 25th seed Rocket League team. Earning an at-large selection after a 5-3 regular season, the four pack put its two-match winning streak on the line in Monday’s clash against eighth seeded Umpqua Community College in Rosewood, Oregon. No. 25 Barton fell to No. 8 Umpqua 3-1.

Highlighting the selections was the top seeded Call of Duty Gunfight 2v2 gold squad of Adam Hardin, Wakefield, and Kindric Castro, Larned. The duo conducted a perfect 8-0 regular season while setting the bar even higher claiming a perfect 24-0 map mark. Hardin and Castro will begin their championship run Thursday at 7 p.m. against 16-seeded Bryant & Stratton College (Wisconsin).

Fresh off a third-place finish a year ago, Davon Morris, Lyons, returns to the postseason as one of two Madden 21 selections. Drawing the second seed following his perfect 9-0 regular season, Morris will begin his title quest Tuesday night against 16t- seeded Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas. Joining the sophomore in the bracket is Chance Costello, St. Louis, Mo. Securing the 12th seed following a successful 7-2 season, the freshman will take his five match winning streak into Tuesday’s battle against fifth seed Carl Albert State College in Potoeau, Oklahoma.

Winners of seven straight events, the red-hot Rainbow 6 Siege squad enters into the big dance as the fifth seed following a 7-1 regular season. Drawing fourth-seeded St. Clair (Michigan) Community College in Tuesday’s 6 p.m. match, the intensity is certain to be in full effect as the Cougars look to avenge their lone blemish of the season when they fell 2-1 to St. Clair in the season opener.

Concluding Barton’s postseason selections was the 6-2 Overwatch team. Fighting for an at-large bid over the final four weeks of the season, the Cougars strung together a 3-0 record in helping them secure the 12th seed. The group will wrap up Barton’s opening week of the postseason on Friday at 6 p.m. against fifth-seeded Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.
