Cardinal pole vaulter wins title

HOISINGTON – Shellamae Farmer cleared 11-6 to capture the 3A pole vault championship, It continues a strong Hoisington pole vault tradition under coach Dan Schmidt.

Cardinal jumper Bralen Thompson earned a third-place finish in the triple jump (43-8). Josiah Ball placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.88). Macy Hanzlick was fifth in the 200 (26.94).

CENTRAL PLAINS – Oiler Lauren Oeser nearly pulled off a big upset with a runner-up finish in the javelin (132-6).

ELLINWOOD – The Eagles placed fourth in the 1,600-meter relay (3:35.7) with Cody Zink, Mathew Cook, Britton Dutton and Koy Behnke.

ST. JOHN – St. John’s Preston Dunn (41.71) placed fourth. The Tigers 1,600 relay (4:18.88) and 3,200-meter relay (10:30.82) both placed third with Heidi Fisher, Lydia Reed, Darby Smith and Payton Meyer. The Tigers’ 3,200 boys relay (8:49.32) placed fourth.

MACKSVILLE – Defending 1A state champion Ryan Kuckelman (52.3) placed fifth in the 400. Macksville’s Madison Butler placed fourth in the 1,600 (5:46.42) and 3,200 (12:44.36).

LA CROSSE – Gage Burk led La Crosse with a third in the high jump (6-4). The Leopards (3:38.48) placed fourth in the 1,600 relay with Burk, Will Rues, Chris Schueter and Colby Stull.
