Lincoln lockdown ends
center-24-situation
Employees of The Center were evacuated from the building Thursday afternoon for their safety as law enforcement responded to a report.

The Great Bend Tribune is monitoring a situation at The Center for Counseling and Consultation, 5815 Broadway Ave., where law enforcement responded to a suspected arm suspect shortly after 3 p.m.

While law enforcement officers from the Great Bend Police Department, Barton County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol were on scene, Lincoln School was placed on lockdown as a security precaution. Students were not allowed to leave as school dismissed.

At 3:25 p.m., parents and guardians of Lincoln School were sent the following message:

“At the request of police, Lincoln Elementary is on lockdown due to a nearby situation and a suspected armed suspect. This is an active situation, dismissal will likely be delayed. Parents please be advised and stay in your vehicles.”

At 4:12 p.m. Lincoln received an “all clear” and began dismissing students.

Shortly thereafter, Cherished Blessings Preschool, 4500 10th St. Place, was placed on lockdown and parents were advised, "We have been informed that there is an active shooter somewhere in Great Bend. From information we have been given, police are in search of a man with a gun."
