Darrell Duncan 1929 - 2019

WOODWARD, Oklahoma — Darrell Duncan, 89, passed away at Grace Living in Woodward, Okla. He joined his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary Lou (Hamilton) Duncan in Heaven on February 8th, 2019. Darrell was born August 17, 1929, and raised in Great Bend, Kan., by his parents George and Irva (Robertson) Duncan. Following his graduation from high school, Darrell worked at the flour mill in Great Bend. When Mary Lou Hamilton saw Darrell with flour on his face, her mother said Mary was smitten for life. Darrell and Mary Lou were married and then Darrell joined the Marine Corps. Darrell and Mary Lou served the Lord faithfully their entire life.

After returning from the Marines, Darrell went to work for Texaco in Great Bend, retiring after 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Family and friends enjoyed many fish fries with fried potatoes and fresh tomatoes from Darrell’s garden.

After the death of Mary Lou, Darrell moved to Arkansas where he and Mary Lou had planned to retire. While there he met and married Evelyn (Flewellen) Young. After the passing of Evelyn, he moved to Woodward, Okla., to be closer to his brother, Gary and wife Genevieve.

Darrell is survived by his brother Gary and wife Genevieve and many beloved nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death are his parents and brother David.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. Wednesday February 13, 2019, at the First Assembly God of Church, with funeral service to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Great Bend Cemetery with Military rites by the U.S. Marine Corps. 

A memorial has been established with the First Assembly of God Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
