Dink Everett Garner 1920 - 2014

Dink Everett Garner, 94, died Nov. 27, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Feb. 22, 1920, in Eufaula, Okla., he was the son of Dink G. and Nora E. (Collie) Garner. On Dec. 31, 1947, he married Betty Lorraine Johnson in Great Bend. She died on July 19, 2011. A resident of Great Bend most of his life, he was a Dairy Department Manager for Dillons, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Garner was a member of the First Baptist Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include one son, Dink E. Garner Jr. of Great Bend; two daughters, Carolyn Garner of Kansas City, Mo., and Magda Dolatshahi of Great Bend; one sister, Nova Thompson of Arlington Heights, Ill.; three grandchildren, Dink E. Garner III, Kamnika Sheron Garner and Kelly Shannon; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, James Garner, Ward Garner, Amos Garner and Silas Garner; and one sister, Carrie Bauchman.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Keith officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
