Evening Lions receive service award
COURTESY PHOTO The Great Bend Evening Lions Club was notified in March it has received the Lions Club International Centennial Service Challenge Award for 2017-18. However, the honor covers work the club has done over the past four years for fighting diabetes, purchasing vision screening equipment used to cover five counties and road signs at the city limits announcing there is a Lions Club in the community. LCI challenged clubs to serve over 100 million people through hunger, sight, youth and environmental projects, but club members beat that by serving 248 million around the world. Globally, over 31,000 Community Legacy Projects were completed and implemented, 27,000 of which were dedicated to combating diabetes. Pictured are local club members. The club meets the first Monday of the month.
