Haven's defense overwhelms Panthers, 61-27
NO. 4 HAVEN GIRLS 61, PANTHERS 27 (1ST) — After Great Bend's girls led Haven 9-4, the Wildcats turned up the defensive pressure and offensive rebounding, and the Panthers never recovered.
Haven erased the 9-4 deficit with a 26-2 run for a 30-11 lead behind aggressive defense and offensive rebounding. Haven's All-Tournament Sienna DeFrain scored 19 points with double digit boards and all-tournament Avery Brawner added 14 points.
Great Bend's All-Tournament DeShawnna Bryant earned all-tournament for the second consecutive year with a 9-point effort.

HOISINGTON 61, BUCKLIN 55 (3RD) — Hoisington's Kelsi Maier played her best game with a 16-point effort that keyed a 61-55 third-place victory over Bucklin in the Keady Basketball Classic. Marley Bittel (13) and Tianna Lutters (12) scored in double figures.
Bucklin sliced a 20-point lead to 56-55 when Kirk missed a shot for the lead. Addi Hanzlick and Brynn Tarlton each converted a pair of free throws and Maier added one free throw to score the final five points.
The Cardinals (2-2) build a 32-12 lead before Bucklin rallied behind Kirk (18), Evans (13) and Bowman (12).

HOISINGTON 55, ST. JOHN 39 (3RD) —Hoisington's red-hot Mason Martin drilled five 3-pointers and scored 25 points to spark the Cardinals past St. John 55-39 in Saturday's Keady Classic third-place game. Martin scored 15 second-half points.
The Cardinals (2-2) led 10-0 as the Tigers committed 10 first-quarter turnovers and ended with 20 turnovers. The Cardinals outscored the Tigers 21-6 on 3-pointers.
Jason Robinson scored eight points and keyed a strong defensive effort.
"Jason's our best athlete, a high-energy guy who can drive to the basket," said Hoisington coach Kyle Haxton. "We came out ready to play in the first quarter."
St. John (2-2) was paced by Braxton Alpers with 14 points and Emmett Delp added eight points, six below his average.
