GARFIELD — Theodore “Ted” E. Byrum of Kimberling City, Mo., son of Ted H. and Edna (Nuss) Byrum, was born June 30, 1946 in Dodge City, Kan. and departed this life on April 22, 2018 at the age of 71.
Ted had been a resident of the area for 10 years, moving here from Lewis Kan. He was a resident of the Garfield and Lewis, Kan. communities for over 61 years. Postmaster for the U.S. Mail and worked for the mail service for 25 years. He spent many years in the oil fields and proudly served in the United States Navy.
He was a former member of the Garfield Lutheran Church of Garfield, Kan. and after moving to Missouri he became a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Hollister, Mo. He was a Member of the Garfiled American Legion and VVA 913 of Branson, Mo.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include, his wife Carla (Byer) Byrum of Kimberling City, Mo.: daughter Angela Metzger and husband Nathan of Hollister, Mo.; son, Matthew Byrum and wife Nicole of Plato, Mo.: two brothers Alvin A. Byrum and wife Gloria of Columbia, Md.; and Gary Byrum and wife Rose of Las Cruces, N.M.; sister Julia Lee and husband Ben of Wichita, Kan.; grand children Glenn Metzger and Maura Metzger; and a host of other family members and friends.
Previous Celebration of Life was held for Ted on April 28, 2018 in Kimberling City, Mo. His Celebration of Life in Kansas will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Garfield Lutheran Church, Garfield, Kan. with Nancy Mitchell PMA. Memorials may be sent to the Garfield Lutheran Church.
