The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports that, as of Monday, May 3, there have been 309,645 COVID-19 cases in Kansas, resulting in 10,279 hospitalizations and 4,985 deaths statewide. There were 515 new cases, three new deaths and 31 new hospitalizations reported since Friday, April 30. 

KDHE now reports the number of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) cases associated with COVID-19; the total as of May 3 is 13.

Barton County and the surrounding counties – Ellsworth, Pawnee, Rice, Rush, Russell and Stafford – reported no new deaths over the weekend. To date, zero SARS-Co-V-2 variants have been detected in residents of these counties. There was one new case reported in Barton County and one in Ellsworth County since Friday. There were no new cases in the other area counties.

As of Monday, 1,124,554 Kansans – 38.6% of the total population – had received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 806,318 had received a second dose. Among people 16 years of age and older residing in Barton County, 39.9% have been vaccinated with at least one dose and 34.4% have completed the vaccine series. For Pawnee County, 45.9% have received at least one dose and 40.1% have completed the series.

Of the total doses administered in Kansas, 52.65% were manufactured by Pfizer, 44.36% by Moderna and 2.99% by Janssen (Johnson & Johnson).
