Samantha Kay Hickel and Matthew William Hafner were united in marriage on Oct. 18, at Dozier Vineyard and Winery in Ellinwood, in a double-ring ceremony officiated by Pastor Lenard Maxwell. Parents ofthe couple are Doug and Karen Hickel of Claflin and Rod and Kathy Hafner of Great Bend. Grandparents of the bride are Alice Bednasek of Holyrood and the late Vernon Bednasek, and Betty
Hickel of Claflin and the late Robert Hickel. Grandparents of the groom are Virginia Cameron of Clay Center and the late Gene Cameron, and Wayne and Wanda Hafner, of Clay Center.
The bride was given in marriageby her father.
Matron of honor was Corinna Demel, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kayla Schwerman, Bailee Miller, Laurel Hickel, cousin of the bride, Melissa Schartz and Megan Betsworth.
Best man was Ryan Thurman. Groomsmen were Tyler Smith, Ryan Sadler, Trevor Maneth, Bart Howard and Cole Betsworth.
Ushers were Jeff Rowe, Justin Klima, Charley Fritz, and Chad Ohnmacht.
Flower girl was Quinn Hubbard, cousin of the bride. Ringbearers were Hagen and Huxten Hickel, nephews of the bride and William Morice, nephew of the groom.
Program attendants were Emma Hickel, cousin of the bride and Lainey Smith.
Music was provided by a piano quartet. Vocalists were Lewis McMillian with guitar, and David Hickel, uncle of the bride.
Hostesses were Dustin and Krystal Hickel, brother and sister-in-law of the bride and Keith and Lindsay Morice, sister and brother-in-law of the groom.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Claflin High School. She graduated from Kansas State University in 2010, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel and Textiles. She is employed as a Trust Assistant at National Advisors Trust Company in Overland Park.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of Great Bend High School. He graduated from Barton Community College in 2004, with an associates degree. He is employed as a Locomotive Engineer for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in Kansas City.
After a honeymoon in Aruba, the couple reside in Lenexa.
