Library will accept food for fines

Great Bend Public Library will accept food donations in place of overdue book fines, library spokesman Jennifer King said.

The Food for Fines program starts Monday and will continue through Dec. 23. Anyone with late fines on any Great Bend Public Library materials can bring in non-perishable food items instead of paying their fines, King said. Each non-perishable item will be worth $1. All food items collected will be donated to the Community Food Bank of Barton County.
